Wedding Cake by The Caketress
We love this book inspired wedding cake created by Toronto’s The Caketress. The couple got married in The Library Room at Bellvue Manor in Vaughan. If you look close you can even see some “book mice” hiding in the flowers. It’s cute and gorgeous at the same time. Check out The Caketress’ blog for more stunning and creative cakes.

Here’s what The Caketress had to say about this beautiful pale pink and gold wedding cake.
“Designing a cake for a couple is not just about technique and decorating but knowing how to style it to their tastes. I usually like them to describe the feel of their cake in few words, and as I’m creating every touch of their cake I literally have those few words echo in my head. For Emily and Davis those words were “timeless”, “beautiful”, “romantic” and “clean”. Why do I do this? It insures when all the design elements come together (much like a puzzle pieces) that the result is their dream cake.
For the design of this five tier wedding cake we based it slightly off of her absolutely stunning invitations designed by Paletterra. The blush pink and gold floral cake was to be displayed and enjoyed at their beautiful reception at Toronto’s historic castle, Casa Loma. Cascading flowers finished the look of this red velvet and vanilla cake with strawberries. I truly love how pretty this cake turned out. It’s one of my current favorites. Congrats to Emily and David and thank you so much for allowing me to create your wedding cake.

I LOVE silk…. yards and yards and yards of it! So when Kim Ironmonger of Valencienne told me she had a bride who felt the same way I thought… WOW! Then I remembered… this particular bride is one of my very own (through Distinct Occasions) Destination Wedding brides too! Charlotte may be a city girl from Toronto but she followed her heart and man to wedded bliss in Australia!
From Kim:
Let me start by introducing a little bit of Charlotte’s background, she is also in the bridal industry with her now husband, they own Dave and Charlotte Lifestyle Photography; So when we first met it was an honor because she is so talented but also a challenge because she had seen many varieties of beautiful wedding gowns. For Charlotte, she knew that custom was the only way to have something so unique that she would not find herself looking through her lens at another wedding gown that would resemble hers, so the work began… Charlotte needed something lightweight as she was getting married in Australia, she wanted tiers and tiers of draped fabric fluffy but flat .She wanted her gown to be very romantic but also very sculpted. The hot Australian temperature was a huge consideration so we choose light weight French silk taffeta, there was a very small amount of micro beads for a bit of sparkle. It was a confection of fabric 32 yards to be exact. It was nothing but spectacular.

What would you wear for a destination wedding? Yards of silk? Strapless? Beaded?

Check out this vintage dior inspired cake by Lori Hutchinson. Here’s what she had to say about the design and the couple.
“Some bride’s have exceptional couture tastes and Jacky was one of them. I still remember when we first met for her cake consultation/tasting and she pulled out a picture of her dream dress she was getting recreated by Valencienne. It was not just any dress but the vintage Christian Dior Junon gown. I was inspired to say the least. The bejeweled petals of this gown is so swoon worthy – we had to incorporate into the cake. It took forever individually attaching each edible pearl but it was worth it to get the final couture look of Jacky and Luc’s wedding at the Art Gallery of Ontario.”

Gold is such rich and warm metallic that can make any room look formal. Creams and golds were the perfect color palette for the Liberty Grand’s Centennial room. We love the blend of large fluffy peonies, hydrangeas and tea roses for this elegant affair.

The gold you see on there is 24 carat gold painted on with vanilla vodka.

Fuscia Designs was there putting the final touches on the Centennial Room.
