Gold is such rich and warm metallic that can make any room look formal. Creams and golds were the perfect color palette for the Liberty Grand’s Centennial room. We love the blend of large fluffy peonies, hydrangeas and tea roses for this elegant affair. Fuscia Designs

2010 Bridal Market Show

Since styling her sister Sandy on her wedding day, stylist Ashley Braz has embraced the world of bridal fashion wholeheartedly, visiting designers, keeping up to date on current trends and heading to New York twice a year to better understand what’s in demand and what’s best for her brides.  An attendee at runway shows by some of today’s hottest bridal designers – including Amsale, Kenneth Pool, Melissa Sweet, Priscilla of Boston and Platinum – Ashley makes a point of putting her clients first, using her eye for fashion to help guide brides on their special day.

“I just jump on every opportunity to visit tiny studios with fabulous designers launching their latest collections of precious jewels, veils, shoes and everything in between,” she began.  “Together, we talk about you, our future brides and bridesmaids.  My desire is to share your vision and show you a style you’ll love and ultimately find a dress you love.”

“During every trip I analyze designer sketches in look books, make notes during runway shows, snap photos, chat with designers and editors, and style forecast for my brides at least a year in advance,” she continued.  “Ultimately, my goal is to fly home with international inspiration, blooming trends and ideas to share with my brides.”

Ashley’s affinity for bridal fashion began when she styled her sister years ago – a reason why her job means so much to her today.

“The first bride I ever styled was my sister, Sandy – still a vivid memory,” she explained. “Together, [we] worked on a vision.  We knew we needed to find something “different”.  It began when she popped out from behind the white linen curtains in a powder ivory, Swiss dot, eight layer, silk organza gown with a flirtatious accent ruffle and a soft sash . . . and there it was.  Perfection!”

“The first dress quickly became the one and from that day forward I was hired as the bridal stylist working in a luscious bridal boutique styling brides from all over the country.”

A stylist unlike any other, Ashley’s flair for the original and her ability to make each client feel like the queen that she is has set her apart from others in the industry, cementing her status as someone that not only cares about her job, but cares about her brides.

“My philosophy is: feel fresh and polished,” she shared.  “I believe your wedding gown should reflect you and your personality.  Treat yourself to a gown [that] makes you feel sensual and beautiful and wonderful because I promise you, it’s a feeling you won’t shake.  You’ll always hold on to the thrill of that one fine day.”

And as one of our newest bloggers, Ashley looks forward to sharing her ideas and expertise with the readers of Toronto Wedding Society.

“To all new brides search for that perfect look, I’d love to style you and your maids,” she revealed.  “Whether your look is soft and vintage, sweet and flirty, sophisticated and classic or old Hollywood glam, let’s find everything you love and bring it along with you for your wedding day.”

“My blog-to-be will launch this month – just in time for wedding season!” she concluded.  “I look forward to working with you.”

Making your guest happy. Wedding Tips. When you think back to other weddings you have attended – what sticks out in your mind? Was it a fabulous meal, great ambiance, wonderful service, or a fabulous speech? Did the ceremony wow you with it’s sentimentality? Were the gowns and suits to-die-for? What truly stood out for you? This is your starting point!

For me, a WOW wedding isn’t one specific thing but a package and at the very backbone of it is service. Service is the little things novice Planners or couples overlook including:

- The ratio of waitstaff to guests.
- The availability of coat check.

- Setup & Teardown crew for event.

- Prep staff for décor, catering, coordination, etc.

- On-site staff for event management, catering, venue, décor/floral, cake, etc.
- Proper signage of the venue.

- Well thought out menus and place cards.
- Invitations that set a tone.

- Programs used at the ceremony so guests understand the service.
- The general flow from ceremony to cocktails to dinner to dancing.

Service is what can (and does) make or break a wedding and is the number one most overlooked detail of your wedding. Why is it that we plan elaborate décor, scrumptious meals and phenomenal entertainment but forget the service of delivering these items to your guests in a way that is convenient, logical and downright interesting?

When considering your wedding plans I always urge my couples to never forget the service when choosing providers. If you want photos of both the bride & groom getting ready (& this is happening in different locations) you will need two photographers. If your event have over 200 guests attending you will need an extra coat check person as well as on-site management. Put yourself in the shoes of your guests and walk through your wedding in your mind. If there are gaps or holes where you don’t feel confident, knowledgeable or well taken care of – what can we do to fix that? The answer is usually about service!

People make a wedding and lack of people can break a wedding. If you truly want to WOW your guests – it’s all about how their treated and the services you can provide to be sure that your not the only King & Queen of the celebration.

Tea parties are coming back into style with celebrations such as showers and weddings. These days it’s all about the little touches that add personality to your event. So for those of you serving up tea at your wedding or shower , how cute would it be to have custom decorated sugar cubes presented to your guests. Home Sweet Home, an Ottawa based (and online)  company,  specializes in the small sugar details (and even salts, cookies, sculptures and berries) that will have you and your guests go aww!  They even have a line of “Sugar Couture” that involve custom champagne sugar charms that sit on the edge of your glass.

Toronto wedding planner, resources , and tips In our on-going warm fuzzies of love for all things wedding I wanted to share a few more of my favourite Trends We Love….
6) A Return to Intimate Celebrations – small, cozy or intimate no matter what you call them the premise is the same. A return to smaller weddings who’s soul purpose is the share your big day with those nearest and dearest to you (and not your 3rd cousin twice removed and her boyfriend unless of course you two are super tight).
7) His & Her Menu’s – You love chicken. He loves beef. You can’t decide what to serve your guests – why not opt for his & her menus? A fun twist to traditional choose your own meals via invite reply cards guests are served at random one of two meals (alternating as you serve). Guests are then able to swap or save the meal they desire allowing you ultimate flexibility with food service and a fun oppourtunity for guests to mingle with others over which meal they might want. If you don’t like this option for your Main Course consider it as a fun way to do dessert!
8) Professional MC’s – It’s about time this trend came back in style! MC’s are the life of your party and help the evening flow run smoothly and on-time when good. When bad… well, we just won’t go there. Trending on top of today’s must-have’s for the chic bride & groom is an MC that not only plays well with others (meaning vendors, speakers, etc) but one who can hold his/her own on the microphone – funny without being crass, classy and elegant when desired.
9) Fresh Floral Creativity – a trend we’re so happy to see is couples opting for fresh florals in varying shades and palettes allowing floral designers to really showcase what they can put together. Fusing florals with decorations is also a trend we’re loving right now as shallow dishware, hardware, craft supplies, ribbon and rope climb the ladder of wedding glory with the addition of fresh florals.

10) Fit to Flatter. – Don’t alter yourself to fit your gown but rather alter the gown to fit you. Brides & Grooms proud of their bodies show off their true selves in fitted garments befitting of their haloed hallplace on your big day. Embellishments overdone is out but small details like pintucking, buttons, cowl necks, beading and sparkle remain the strongholds of the season!

11) Virtually Everywhere – with more stylish couples getting web savvy it`s no wonder the world is feeling like a smaller and smaller microcosm of your big day! We love the trend of virtual offices (we even have one) that allow you full access to your Planner no matter where in the world their beckoned to! It`s Planning and convenience at it`s very best – phone, email, Skype, text and more!
We hope you’ve enjoyed our lil matrimonial montage of our favourite trends… what are yours?!?!
